      Deputy Legislative Director
      Mike Moses USN Former

During the Vietnam and Middle East Crises, Mike Moses served (1969-1972) in the U.S. Navy, USS John F. Kennedy CAV 67.

He returned to the Federal government and retired after (41 years) of service as a computer/Microsoft Specialist. He now maintains an active role throughout the Southern Maryland Tri-county as a Veteran Service Officer and Advocate.

Currently, he is an active life member with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), National Association for Black Veterans (NABVETS), and the American Legion, all of which he serves as a Veteran Service Officer (VSO). He has also served as President of the Veterans Organization at the College of Southern Maryland (CSM). Moses carries out his weekly VSO duties at the Prince George County Vet Center, ReMax Building, the Tri-County area, and the Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living.

As the previous President of the CSM Veterans Organization, Moses was crucial in establishing the Veterans Lounge (2015) at the La Plata, MD Campus. This lounge combined veteran developmental classes (Math, English, and Criminology), which veteran CSM instructors instructed.

Governor Larry Hogan appointed Moses to serve on the World War I Commission from 2016 to 2019 due to his expertise in Veteran history and presentations on local veterans' involvement in the War of 1812.

Moreover, Congressman Steny Hoyer’s Office selected him to serve on the annual U.S. Service Academy Showcase review board for Naval, Army, Air Force, Merchant, and Marines from 2012 to the present.

Since 2013, as the Chapter Commander of the Southern Maryland NABVETS Chapter #96, Moses has been actively collaborating with organizations such as Charles County Workforce Development, Southern Maryland Independent Living, Lifestyle, Three Oaks, Battle Buddies, Hospice, Help You Too, and the Tri-County Council, as well as many others throughout Southern Maryland.

Moses, an original board member of the Veterans Memorial Museum in Newburg, MD, assisted in securing museum grants. He was later elected as the second Vice President and Chairman of the Museum Multimedia Committee. His work in multimedia led to his talk show, “Vet Talks,” and an opportunity to participate in the 2016 Annapolis Film Festival.

Moses aims to assist Charles County veterans by addressing the following:

      - Incarceration

      - Changing Dishonorable/General and SPIN Codes to Honorable

      - Providing transportation for downtown Medical Appointments

      - Community topics related to the Board, such as:

         - Veteran Monument Alley

         - The “Veteran Machine”

         - Benefits for doctors and lawyers

         - Supplemental housing for veterans

         - Support for veteran spouses and families

         - Annual legislation for veterans
